The IMOCA Fortinet – Best Western is back in the water

After a month and a half in the yard, the IMOCA Fortinet – Best Western was relaunched yesterday in Lorient, ready to tackle the final stretch before the Vendée Globe.

For 7 weeks this summer, the Fortinet – Best Western team has been busy taking care of the IMOCA. Dismantled, cleaned and inspected, every part of the monohull was checked and, if necessary, replaced. The appendages were ultrasonically inspected for optimum verification. We didn’t make many changes to the Verdier-VPLP plan, as there wasn’t enough time to make these changes reliable before the start in Les Sables d’Olonne. On the other hand, a Starlink has been installed on board, as well as a new galley with the creation of a system for adding a saucepan. The aim is to be able to cook something other than freeze-dried food when conditions allow.

The team is now busy getting the boat back into racing configuration, while I prepare to take the helm of my IMOCA again for next week’s Defi Azimut!
