Day 1: Channel exit

“Horrible first night aboard Fortinet – Best Western. I’ve rarely seen the boat hit the waves so hard. We had one problem after another, particularly with the mainsail, even though we were under 3 reefs. We’ve had quite a few small breakages (a solar panel, a few leaks, a problem with the hydrogenerator…) but to stop us. We’ll fix all that tomorrow when we get to Spain.

Difficult to rest, we’re sailing under J2 1 reef.

Now everybody is well on board.”
